The giving of christening gifts is a tradition that goes back centuries, but what to buy?
Well, if you're a Godparent you may wish to stick to tradition and give something that is seen as an investment in the baby's future such as money or savings bonds and along with these you can gve something tangible like a money box or 'Piggy Bank' that will encourage the child to keep saving on their own. Gifts of jewellery such as a cross or St.Christopher are also popular as are charm bracelets that can be added to on Birthdays, Christmases etc, as the child grows.
For other family and friends suitable gifts are photo frames or albums to keep record of baby's special day. Keepsakes such as silver tooth and curl sets are also a good idea and practical gifts of a pretty blanket or a cuddly toy for the baby to enjoy are also welcome.
